Dorset Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team at Dorset Council. This is an exciting opportunity to support families in Dorset, delivering high-quality services that improve outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with and supporting children and/or families, with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for Dorset's children and young people. This role requires significant travel and involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults, therefore a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
The estimated salary for this position is £35,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a range of employee benefits, including access to training opportunities and career progression.
About the Role:
- Deliver direct work with children, young people, parents, and families in the family home and other community locations.
- Use relevant case management systems, databases, and business intelligence tools as directed by the team manager.
- Provide information, advice, and guidance to children, young people, and families.
- Assess parenting skills and help to build physical and emotional caring abilities through a range of practical activities.
- Deliver parenting and behaviour management support to children and families.
- Keep up to date with knowledge of local service provision.
- Support families during crisis situations.
- Support schools in the local area by being their link worker between family help and schools.
