About the Job

Cryptoassets have significant implications for consumers and the financial system. The post holder will advise ministers on how best to manage these rapid developments and deliver a regulatory framework fit for the future.

The successful candidate will support the UK's thinking on cryptoasset policy and ensure the safe adoption of new technology.

  • Policy development: You will formulate policy proactively and in response to international and domestic developments, actively monitoring cryptoassets to identify emerging issues.
  • Producing legislation: Substantial legislative work is expected to update the UK's framework for financial services regulation, protecting consumers from harms associated with cryptoasset investment.
  • Engaging externally: Close working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Bank of England is necessary, building functional networks to inform HMT policy.
  • Advising ministers: Briefing Treasury ministers on cryptoasset policy decisions, dealing with parliamentary, media, and external engagement.
