Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team in the Cambridge area. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing ecological strategies for our clients, while also contributing to the growth and development of our Ecology Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ecological projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement ecological strategies for clients, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment, and Biodiversity Net Gain Metrics.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across various sectors, including Residential Development, Mineral Extraction, Energy Generation, Leisure, and Healthcare.
  • Manage and mentor junior ecologists, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
  • Stay up-to-date with current guidance, UK standards, planning policy, and laws, applying this knowledge to inform ecological strategies and project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the environmental consultancy sector, with a strong background in ecology and protected species.
  • Excellent field recording skills and ability to analyze data, with a strong understanding of ecological principles and concepts.
  • Strong ability to produce clear and concise technical reports, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • UK driving license and ability to work in the UK.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Holds protected species class/survey license(s).
  • QGIS experience.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Ability to liaise with clients, statutory consultees, and site contractors.
