Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Ecologist to work as a Senior Ecologist and Consultant Ecologist in our Cambridge office. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects, developing our ecology team, and contributing to the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and excellent client satisfaction
  • Develop and manage our ecology team, providing guidance and support to junior staff members
  • Contribute to business development, identifying new opportunities and building relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other teams to deliver integrated services and achieve business objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements, applying this knowledge to improve our services and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental consultancy, with a strong background in ecology and project management
  • Excellent field recording skills, data analysis, and technical report writing abilities
  • Strong understanding of current guidance, UK standards, planning policy, and laws
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders

Desirable Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  • Holds protected species class/survey license(s)
  • QGIS experience
  • Proven project management experience
  • Ability to liaise with clients, statutory consultees, and site contractors
