Job Title: Vehicle Test Technician

Cranfield

£18.01/hour

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Test Technician to join our team at a globally recognized automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role with the potential to run for several years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and disassemble parts, components, or vehicles for static and dynamic test activities.
  • Maintain the Test Vehicle Fleet, including safety checks, retrofits, fault finding, and repairs.
  • Camouflage confidential vehicles in accordance with procedures (training provided).
  • Deliver and collect competitor vehicles from dealers.
  • Liaise with Test/Design engineers to conduct tests to client standards and local operating procedures.
  • Set up instrumentation.
  • Assist with facility management, including maintenance, facility calibration, risk assessment, and training.
  • Learn bespoke client systems required to fulfill the role.
  • Prepare, build, and maintain vehicles or components for testing in line with local procedures and client Engineering Manuals.
  • Support testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
  • Support evaluation and concern identification, including liaison with Test Engineers.
  • Support the delivery of Key Performance Indicators for the section.
  • Provide support to other sections as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Ideal qualifications: C&G/BTEC L3 in mechanical or automotive engineering with a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Fundamental understanding of vehicle disassembly, assembly, and maintenance techniques.
  • Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
  • Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
  • Understanding of basic component measurement techniques is preferred but not essential.
  • FLT license is preferred but not essential.
  • Basic machining, welding, or fabrication skills are preferred but not essential.
  • Trailer towing/breakdown experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Basic computer literacy (word processing).
  • Fully proficient in fundamental practical mechanical/electrical skills required for this role.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with legal and company safety policies.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently to manage and prioritize workload.
Working Hours and Pay:
  • Monday to Friday.
  • 39 hours per week.
  • £18.01/hour.
