We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bereavement Support Officer to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Bereavement Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our Bereavement Services department, ensuring that bereaved families receive a high level of care and support during a difficult time.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the Bereavement Services department, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
- Act as a first point of contact for bereaved families, providing information and support regarding death registration, funeral arrangements, and other related matters.
- Communicate with distressed or potentially aggressive relatives and family members in a professional, courteous, and sensitive manner.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff, funeral directors, and other external agencies to ensure that statutory and mandatory paperwork is completed correctly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, using a computerized system to ensure data quality and integrity.
- 5 or more GCSEs or equivalent, to include English Language & Mathematics (C/4 grade or above)
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration / Customer Service / IT or be able to demonstrate the equivalent experience
- Experience working in a busy office environment and with an understanding of administrative and clerical procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
