Bereavement Support Officer

The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Bereavement Support Officer to join their team. As a Bereavement Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care to bereaved families. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the paperwork process after death, ensuring that all necessary documents are completed accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with medical and nursing staff, funeral directors, the coroner's office, and the register office to ensure that bereaved families receive a service of compassionate duties. Your excellent communication skills and ability to empathize with individuals in distress will be essential in delivering difficult news and providing support to those who need it most.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the paperwork process after death, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of documents.
- Work closely with medical and nursing staff, funeral directors, the coroner's office, and the register office to ensure bereaved families receive a service of compassionate duties.
- Deliver difficult news and provide support to individuals in distress, using tact, empathy, and reassurance skills.
- Develop relationships and rapport with the general public and colleagues of different disciplines, backgrounds, and levels of seniority.
- Ensure strict deadlines are met, prioritizing workload and managing personal and professional boundaries effectively.
