In our Edinburgh office, we are seeking a Senior/Associate Building Surveyor to join our team.

The successful candidate will be part of a team covering all aspects of professional and project-related building surveying in the private and public sectors.

This role involves supporting project leaders in delivering high-standard service outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

You will assist in managing client and project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time to a wide range of clients.

This role covers the full spectrum of building surveying services, including design and specification, clerk of works, contract administration, building surveys, and dilapidations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver projects, commissions, and professional assignments from inception to completion
  • Maintain effective communication to ensure all information is available for successful project completion and liaise with other managers for efficient financial control
  • Assist with the management of client/project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time
  • Visit sites to undertake surveys, meet with sub-contractors, contractors, clients, and other staff as required to deliver projects
  • Deliver work outputs accurately and timely
  • Represent the company professionally and diligently, meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong and long-lasting working relationships

About You:

We are looking for candidates with a BSc in building surveying or equivalent and Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) beneficial.

You should have good technical writing and communication skills, both internally and externally, and proficient skills in the use of AutoCAD and NBS beneficial.

Experience in higher education, local government, and healthcare sectors beneficial, as well as significant exposure to and good working relations with private and public sector clients beneficial.

You should also possess well-developed skills in surveys, project management, clerk of works, repairs, and maintenance, and be well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute.

A 'can-do' attitude and being a team player are essential. Outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible when speaking to colleagues and clients alike are also key qualities.

We require good IT skills, including proficiency in AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other bespoke software.
