Facilities Operations Specialist

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
This is a full-time role based on-site in Plymouth. As a Facilities Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building Maintenance:
• Oversee maintenance and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural integrity.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.
• Schedule routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns. - Equipment Management:
• Ensure all essential equipment is operational.
• Maintain an inventory of equipment and arrange for necessary replacements or upgrades. - Health & Safety Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to minimise workplace hazards. - Vendor and Contractor Management:
• Manage relationships with external contractors for cleaning, security, and repairs.
• Supervise on-site contractors to ensure work meets required standards. - Budgeting and Cost Control:
• Assist in managing the facilities budget to ensure cost-effective solutions.
• Track expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction. - Space Management:
• Oversee the allocation of space within the building, coordinating with department heads on workspace needs. - Emergency Response:
• Develop emergency response procedures and coordinate drills.
• Act as the primary contact for facility-related emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
- Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent with at least 5 years of commercial experience (17th edition or above).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building codes.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems is a plus.
- Budget management experience is desirable.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Must hold a full clean driving license; forklift or cherry picker license is desirable but not essential.
