Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Electron Microscopy section in the Cellular Pathology Department at Charing Cross Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in a range of medical laboratory techniques, particularly in histopathology and electron microscopy, to support the provision of an efficient service.

Main Duties

The post holder will be required to undertake the technical processing and preparation of tissue biopsies ready for ultrastructural examination. This will involve working closely with the scientists, medical staff, and management teams to provide a safe and high-quality service.

Induction Programme

All new staff members are required to attend our NWLP induction programme, which includes laboratory training for relevant laboratory roles. The programme is run on the first Monday of each month, excluding bank holidays.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a recognised qualification in Maths and English Language, or Science and Humanities as an alternative. They will also need to have NVQ level 3 or proven and relevant laboratory experience. A working knowledge of pathology labs and experience as an MLA in NHS/Histopathology would be desirable.
