About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manual Machinist to join our team at Finning. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting the repair and maintenance of CAT machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, and honing machines to manufacture new parts and components.
  • Reclaim and refurbish old or damaged parts and components to meet high-quality standards.
  • Plan and execute jobs through various stages of manufacture, selecting the correct machinery, tooling, and processes to achieve the required accuracy and quality.
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with the drawing office to create and modify parts, providing feedback to improve designs.
  • Ensure all tooling-related activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in operating manual machines, including milling, turning, and drilling.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Experience with benchwork, checking, and assessing old parts and components prior to remanufacturing.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and measuring equipment, such as Verniers, Callipers, micrometres, gauges, etc.
  • Ability to train other engineers on the use of manual machines.
