Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual to join our research group as an Experimental Officer. This fixed-term role is available immediately for one year and will provide direct support to soil science research activities in our Geography department.

Responsibilities

  • Support a team investigating the mechanisms driving carbon sequestration and storage within agricultural soils.
  • Lead experimentation for determining the biochemical methane potential of unconventional feedstocks for Anaerobic Digestion.
  • Set up batch fermentations of small-scale digesters, soil sample processing, and measure greenhouse gas fluxes using sensitive laboratory equipment.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field, such as soil science, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment and use sensitive equipment.
