As a Data Scientist Researcher, you will be part of the Exeter Digital Enterprise Systems (ExDES) laboratory, led by Prof Ion Sucala and Dr Martino Luis.

Job Overview

This full-time post is available from 1 September 2025 on a permanent basis. You will contribute to extending the research profile of Engineering at Exeter, building on the university's internationally recognised research strengths in this area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research in machine learning solutions for modelling of discrete event processes;
  • Develop teaching programs and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects;
  • Attract research collaboration with industrial partners;
  • Engage in continuous professional development and foster interactions within the University and externally;
  • Involvement in projects that develop impact.
About the Role

The successful applicant will have an independent research program that will strengthen and complement the existing team at the University. You will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other relevant subject;
  • Sufficient knowledge in the subject area to develop teaching and research programs;
  • A track record of attracting research collaboration with industrial partners;
  • The ability and enthusiasm for supervising and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate projects;
  • An active and supportive approach to interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.
