Programme Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering sessions in line with Preparing for Adulthood, which includes Life and Living Skills, Community and Relationships, Health and Wellbeing, Communication, and Employability. They will provide care and support for a group of learners with complex learning and sensory needs, who may have multiple barriers to learning such as communication, cognition, sensory, and Physical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Course Leader and take responsibility for the study programme, including embedded Maths and English.
  • Take an active role in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and product development to deliver the College's strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Qualified and experienced in working with students with SEND.
  • Able to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage students with challenging behaviour and communicate at a level appropriate to the students' learning abilities.

Desirable Skills

  • Awareness of the changing agenda for SEND learners in further education.
  • Knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post-16 sector.
  • Understanding of the application of information technology and assistive technology to teaching and learning strategies.
