Job Title: Senior Surgical Staff Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Surgical Staff Nurse to join our team at The Portland Hospital for Women & Children in London.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgery. As a Senior Surgical Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating the care of patients in the Gynaecology Inpatient ward.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide a woman-centred surgical service, supervising and directing junior staff to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. Your clinical leadership skills will be essential in developing and promoting protocols for the care and management of women undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate the care of patients in the Gynaecology Inpatient ward
  • Supervise and direct junior staff to ensure high-quality care is maintained
  • Develop and promote protocols for the care and management of women undergoing surgery
  • Provide clinical leadership for nursing and support staff
  • Take daily responsibility to ensure the clinical area works within management controls and provides consistently high-quality care within given budgets and resources
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1
  • NMC Registration and PREP requirements
  • Extensive experience in a UK hospital setting
  • Experience in a Surgical/Gynae environment
  • ENB course/experience relevant to specialist area desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of relevant NMC/national guidelines, policies, and procedures (Code of conduct)
  • Basic life support
