Job Title: Laboratory Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Engineer to join our team in Sawston. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily activities of our laboratory.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory equipment maintenance and a proven track record of ensuring facilities are efficient and well-maintained. You will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment, as well as developing and implementing maintenance schedules and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lab Manager with day-to-day management of the labs
  • Responsibility for lab waste, including liaising with waste management companies
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment, including keeping detailed records
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and protocols for all lab instruments and equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections and PPM for high-use equipment such as glove boxes and gas supplies
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Facilitate the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Train and supervise the lab team on proper use and maintenance of equipment
  • Changing gas cylinders
  • Support with monitoring health and safety in the lab

About You:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with experience of handling chemicals and gases
  • Health and Safety focused with risk assessments and COSHH experience
  • Experience with servicing and maintenance of equipment
  • Able to work within a small team, helping to train and mentor others
  • Enthusiastic about working within a growing company and excited to contribute to its success
