Job Title: Production Process Technician

Dale Farm Cooperative is a leading dairy farmer co-operative in the UK, owned by over 1200 dairy farmers who supply us with fresh milk. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Process Technician to join our Bulk Cheese and Whey processing plant at Dunmanbridge near Cookstown. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient production of quality cheese and whey products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: You will be responsible for following health and safety rules and company policies, producing risk assessments and method statements for tasks performed, and reporting any near misses or incidents to the Shift Manager or Relief.
  • Operate and Monitor Equipment: You will oversee the operation of machinery involved in cheese and whey production, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Quality Control: You will conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods to maintain high standards of product quality.
  • Troubleshooting: You will take ownership and responsibility to resolve issues promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Documentation: You will maintain accurate records of production activities, including batch records, equipment maintenance logs, and quality assurance documents.
  • Sanitation and Hygiene: You will ensure compliance with sanitation procedures and hygiene standards to uphold food safety regulations and prevent contamination.
  • Team Collaboration: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production staff, quality assurance personnel, and maintenance technicians, to optimize production processes and resolve issues effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement: You will participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing waste, and implementing best practices in cheese and whey production.
  • Training: You will fully embrace all training for the role and be prepared to cross-train within the department to support factory targets.
  • Process Optimization: You will apply knowledge gained from training sessions to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in cheese and whey production operations.
Requirements
  • Good level of general education – minimum 3 GCSEs (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant food manufacturing/FMCG experience.
  • A demonstrable technical skill set – mechanical, electrical/electronic, or mechatronics.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal, written, and computerized.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
  • H&S experience or responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of a Scada-based manufacturing plant.
  • Working knowledge of a cheese or whey production process.
