The University of Southampton and Queen Mary University of London, two Russell Group universities with world-leading research programmes, are offering Medical Research Council funded doctoral training programme (MRC DTP) PhD studentships to study topics including cancer, neurological, inflammatory or infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, or global health.

We combine state-of-the-art computational and experimental methodologies with interdisciplinary studies and whole organism approaches. Our potential links with industry make this a unique opportunity for iCASE studentship holders.

Our 4-year funded PhD programme includes a 1-year MRes period, during which you will choose three rotation projects alongside taught modules and practical training. In the subsequent 3 years, you will undertake your PhD, usually developing one of your rotation projects.

iCASE students can select their PhD project from year 1. Throughout the programme, you will be part of a vibrant student community and have access to flexible study options, on-site childcare facilities, state-of-the-art sports facilities, and a range of cultural events.
