Oncology Pharmacist Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Oncology Pharmacist to join our team at Nuffield Health Oxford, The Manor Hospital. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in clinical pharmacy practice and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

The Oncology Pharmacist will be responsible for the following:

  • Patient Care
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize pharmaceutical care for oncology patients.
    • Conduct medication reviews and provide personalized pharmaceutical care plans for oncology patients.
    • Clinically screen all SACT prescription and process the planning and ordering of treatments for patients.
  • Medication Management
    • Manage and review chemotherapy and other oncology-related drug therapies.
    • Ensure the safe and effective use of oncology medications, including dose adjustments and monitoring for potential adverse effects.
    • Advise patients on the use of SACT medications, side effects counselling and supplementary medication.
  • Drug Information and Education
    • Provide up-to-date information on oncology medications and treatment protocols to healthcare professionals.
    • Educate patients and caregivers on the proper administration and management of oncology medications.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of oncology pharmacy policies, procedures and protocols.
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality and safety of oncology pharmacy services.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Proven post-qualification experience in clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
