About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our Adult Social Care team in Colchester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload and providing high-quality social work services to adults in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess social care needs and undertake safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments.
  • Develop support plans for individuals with eligible social care needs.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners, stakeholders, and the voluntary sector.
  • Conduct triage and plan responses to safeguard children or vulnerable adults, including intervention as required.
  • Proactively influence planning, decision-making, and case discussions inter-agency linked to Service/Team functions.
  • Practice in a way that supports the Council's wider strategic aims.
About You
  • Educated to degree level, with a Diploma or degree in social work and current Social Work England registration.
  • Post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care, with evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
  • Experience of work in Local Authority social care settings and in different operational teams.
  • Commitment and passion driven by social justice, self-awareness, and a desire to engage honestly and clearly with individuals.
  • Understanding of the financial implications of care packages commissioned.
  • Evidence of clear decision-making associated with intervention.
