MLK Education Search is seeking a knowledgeable Mathematics Tutor to join an Outstanding college. This role is perfect for industry professionals looking to transition into teaching through the fully funded Taking Teaching Further scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support learner progression, relate to their needs and interests, and promote safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
- Record attendance and academic notes on Arbor MIS and track learner progression on allocated Google Sheets.
- Develop innovative opportunities for interdepartmental and intradepartmental project collaborations and use a range of assessment methods to provide outstanding and prompt feedback.
- Complete learner one-to-one tutorials and individual learning plans on a bi-termly basis and facilitate enrichment trips and guest speaker events.
- Work towards a stable learner retention and qualification achievement rate and undertake in-house training to remain up-to-date with awarding body expectations.
- Support learners to prepare for their assessed end-of-year project.
Qualifications and Essential Skills:
- Extremely organised and motivated with the ability to manage your own workload effectively and flexibly.
- Proven outstanding teaching and communication skills with a strong understanding of the Ofsted framework.
- Solution-focused and able to respond to data trends, assertive and confident in learning environment management.
- Ambitious and committed to meeting targets, setting standards of behaviour and work, and empathetic towards challenges faced by a demographic of young adults with high free school meals and poverty rate.
- Excellent communication skills, experience in teaching Functional Skills Maths E3-L2, GCSE Mathematics, and Core Principles Mathematics (Level 3), and Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent (Level 2).
- Degree/relevant qualification in the subject area and L5 teaching qualification preferred – relevant experience will be advantageous.
