About the Role

The Scottish Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to take on the role of Chair of the Scottish Enterprise Board. As Chair, you will play a key role in ensuring the Board's functions are delivered effectively, while maintaining a strong and diverse leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Board, ensuring it is diverse, effective, and maintains the highest standards of corporate governance and financial management.
  • Work closely with the CEO and wider organisation to drive transformational change, building on existing relationships with the business community, politicians, and stakeholders.
  • Act as an ambassador for Scottish Enterprise, promoting its mission and values, and fostering a positive reputation within the business community.
  • Support the CEO and wider organisation in achieving their objectives, while maintaining appropriate separation of duty between the Chair and the CEO's operational role.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leadership and governance experience, preferably in a business or public sector setting.
  • Strong understanding of the business support landscape and the ability to shape a new approach for Scotland.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team, while maintaining a strong and independent perspective.
