Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced strategic lead to oversee the delivery and transformation of complex information management and governance services within King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of an aligned Health Records Strategy and an Information Governance Strategy for the Trust, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective information management within budget constraints.

The role will be responsible for driving focus and prioritisation within the Directorate of Transformation and Information (DT&I) through establishing strategic planning and governance principles and processes. The successful candidate will also lead on programmes required to deliver the Trust's Health Records and Information Governance strategies, ensuring costs, resource, interdependencies, and business change requirements are clearly understood.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of Information Governance and Health Records management, including knowledge of the requirements of managing a Registration Authority. They will have a track record of successful, substantial change management, and of developing and implementing strategies in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Develop and implement an aligned Health Records Strategy and an Information Governance Strategy for the Trust.
  • Lead on programmes required to deliver the Trust's Health Records and Information Governance strategies.
  • Drive focus and prioritisation within DT&I through establishing strategic planning and governance principles and processes.
  • Take overall responsibility for the development of all Information Governance and Management Policies which will impact users across the organisation.
  • Attain credibility within the Trust in order to influence and affect change at executive and senior clinical levels.
Corporate Responsibilities
  • Champion the Trust's values in all activities, with particular emphasis on promoting equality and diversity for all staff.
  • Represent DT&I on corporate meetings and projects, as directed by the Chief Digital Information Officer.
People and Resources
  • Responsible for all Information Governance and Management staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the workforce is appropriately utilised and long-term service needs are appropriately planned for in terms of staffing levels, career development, and skill mix.
  • Implement HR Policies and procedures within the services.
Information Management
  • Responsible for the management and development of aligned policies and practices that support the use of electronic and where still relevant, paper health records systems across the organisation.
  • Monitor use and development of electronic health records that support IG&M practices at the Trust to ensure efficient and appropriate use through ongoing participation in the Epic optimisation programme.
Corporate and Financial Responsibilities
  • Negotiate, plan, utilise, and monitor financial performance, ensuring the service is delivered within the available budget and initiating service change as necessary.
  • Ensure that expenditure does not exceed allocation without prior agreement of the Chief Digital Information Officer.
