Independent Professional Advocate

The role of an Independent Professional Advocate at MHM Wales is to provide support and empowerment to individuals with mental health issues, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and dementia in Swansea County Borough.
As an IPA, you will work closely with clients to identify their needs and preferences, and assist them in making informed decisions about their care and support. This includes accompanying clients to meetings, supporting them in writing letters or representing their interests, and promoting self-advocacy through training, coaching, and rehearsal.
We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic individual to join our team as an Independent Professional Advocate. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Independent Professional Advocacy services to clients in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014
- Support clients in identifying their needs and preferences, and assisting them in making informed decisions about their care and support
- Promote self-advocacy through training, coaching, and rehearsal
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records
- Develop and maintain links with other advocacy groups in Swansea
Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, healthcare)
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Salary: £14,165.92 - £15,998.03 per annum
