Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at the Ability Recruitment Group. As a Healthcare Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare teams and delivering high-quality care to patients. Your key responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, monitoring vital signs, providing emotional support, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care:
    • Assist with personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility, ensuring patient dignity and comfort.
    • Monitor vital signs and report any changes to senior staff.
    • Support basic clinical tasks such as wound care under supervision.
  • Emotional Support:
    • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients, helping with emotional and psychological needs.
    • Support patients' families by providing information and guidance on care.
  • Hygiene & Infection Control:
    • Maintain a clean environment, following infection control procedures.
    • Assist with manual handling and safe transfer of patients.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Record vital signs and patient observations accurately.
    • Assist in the management of clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Teamwork & Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other staff.
    • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
  • Training & Development:
    • Participate in ongoing training to ensure skills are up to date.
    • Uphold NHS values of respect, professionalism, and compassion.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
    • Compassionate, empathetic, and able to work under pressure.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Desirable:
    • Previous healthcare experience or NVQ in Health and Social Care.
    • First Aid or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
