Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Clinical Academic to lead our DClinPsy programme at the Department of Psychology, King's College London. As a Clinical Academic Programme Director, you will be responsible for managing the programme staff and trainees, ensuring the programme meets accreditation and quality assurance criteria, and contributing to the department's research and academic activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the DClinPsy programme staff and trainees, ensuring the programme meets accreditation and quality assurance criteria.
  • Chair the Training Programme Committee and meetings of senior management team and core programme staff.
  • Oversee the management of an agreed budget for the training programme.
  • Ensure systematic monitoring procedures are in place across academic, clinical, research, and selection components of the programme.
  • Contribute to the department's research and academic activities, undertaking and publishing internationally excellent research in an area of basic or applied psychology.
  • Provide supervised research project opportunities for doctoral research students (DClinPsy/PhD) and where possible undergraduate and master's students.
  • Contribute through academic citizenship to the department, faculty, and wider university.
Requirements
  • PhD in Psychology or closely related discipline and Doctoral level professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent).
  • Registered (or eligible to register before start date) as Practitioner Psychologists with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Portfolio of internationally recognized research in a field of clinical psychology.
  • At least 4 peer-reviewed publications in the last five years, of 'internationally excellent' quality (with substantive and critical contribution).
  • Experience of administrative functions such as performance management, staff development, and budgetary responsibility.
  • Experience of postgraduate research student supervision (DClinPsy and/or PhD) to completion.
  • Experience and understanding of the UK context of Clinical Psychology training, including commissioning, policies, quality assurance, regulations, governance, and administrative processes.
  • Substantive portfolio of internationally recognized research in a field of clinical psychology (Professor level only).
  • Substantive esteem indicators such as routinely invited to speak at international meetings, chair and organiser of national/international meetings, chairing and serving on professional and scientific grant committees, and Editorial Boards.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time post with an indefinite contract subject to passing probation. The appointee will be expected to hold an honorary contract with one of the King's Health Partner (KHP) NHS Trusts.
