The Department for Work and Pensions is seeking a highly skilled individual to serve as a Non-Executive Director at the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR). This esteemed role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of ONR, drive regulatory excellence, and oversee governance arrangements.

About the Role

As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the work of ONR, operating effectively as a Board Member with particular expertise in human resource organisational development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in Board meetings and discussions to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Contributing to one or more standing Committees, bringing relevant skill sets and expertise to drive effective outcomes.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and representing ONR externally.
  • Demonstrating commitment to the Seven Principles of Public Life.
Essential Criteria

We are seeking candidates with the right skills and abilities to complement our existing Board members. Successful applicants must demonstrate:

  • Ability to contribute strategically to Board activity, challenging and supporting the executive team.
  • Capacity to influence, build consensus, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in human resources, including organisation development and business change transformation.
Salary

The estimated annual salary for this role is £80,000 - £120,000, commensurate with the level of expertise and experience required.

Benefits

This public appointment is a fixed-term position, with reappointment possible subject to performance. The successful candidate will be expected to take up appointment from June 2025.
