Paediatric Dysphagia Specialist Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to fill a clinical lead position in our Paediatric Dysphagia Service at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

This role offers the opportunity to work with babies experiencing physical feeding difficulties, developing specialist assessment and support services. You will take responsibility for advancing this area of our service, supporting clinicians working within the Neonatal Unit (NNU) and community feeding.

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will be part of a large team of Speech and Language Therapists, collaborating on joint working projects and professional development initiatives across the integrated directorate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy services for children experiencing physical feeding difficulties.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, assistants, and students to ensure high-quality support delivery.
  • Conduct training sessions for therapists and professionals, ensuring evidence-based practices.
  • Stay updated on changing evidence bases and NICE guidelines relevant to the clinical field.
  • Participate in policy development tasks as delegated.
  • Lead the clinical provision for paediatric dysphagia across Gloucestershire, managing a specialist caseload and supporting the team to deliver high-quality support to service users.
  • Independently drive service improvement projects, applying your expertise and initiative.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Speech and Language Therapy principles, excellent communication skills, and experience in leadership roles. Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is around £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. As a member of our team, you can expect a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, annual leave, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
