About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join our team at the MS Society. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping our policy and public affairs strategy, working closely with our MS community, Scottish Policy and Communications team, and external partners to influence change in public policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy and public affairs strategies to advance the interests of people affected by MS in Scotland.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including MSPs, their teams, and other external partners.
  • Work closely with our MS community to understand their needs and concerns, and to develop policy and public affairs initiatives that address these.
  • Contribute to the development of our policy and public affairs budget, and manage resources effectively to achieve our goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with policy and public affairs developments in Scotland, and identify opportunities to influence change.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in policy and public affairs, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
  • Strong understanding of the Scottish policy and public affairs landscape, including the Scottish Parliament and government.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
