Childrens Residential Deputy Manager

At CareTech Group, we strive to provide exceptional care and support to children and young people. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in a Residential Deputy Manager role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist the Registered Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Support and manage staff to enable them to meet the needs of children and young people.
- Undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
- Manage child protection concerns and complaints.
- Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
- Offer supervision and support to senior staff in line with National Minimum Standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure each young person has an allocated key worker.
- Ensure each member of staff is aware of each child's placement plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
- Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people.
- Undertake direct work with young people and act as an appropriate role model.
- Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive.
- Maintain accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets, and files.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
- Chair children's meetings and facilitate consultation with young people.
- Act as an appropriate adult at PACE interviews.
Staff Management:
- Provide managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities.
- Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff.
- Supervise new starters during their probationary period.
- Develop a management style that balances control and direction with staff decision-making opportunities.
- Take responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running.
- Provide consultation and informal advice and support to staff.
- Offer 1:1 supervision to staff in line with National Minimum Standards.
- Identify and progress individual training and development needs of staff.
- Undertake annual appraisal of staff.
- Address issues related to staff conduct and competence.
Resource Allocation:
- Ensure adequate staffing levels meet the needs of the Home.
- Manage budgets effectively and monitor the use of finances.
- Ensure company vehicles are clean and regularly maintained.
- Monitor the fabric of the building and take remedial action where necessary.
Efficient Operation:
- Develop routines in consultation with young people and staff.
- Clarify expectations for maintaining the Home in a clean and orderly condition.
- Create rotas that fit best with children's needs.
- Ensure appropriate and adequate reporting and recording systems are in place.
- Attend to all administration issues related to the Home.
General Responsibilities:
- Assist the Registered Manager in implementing all aspects of the Statement of Purpose.
- Contribute to devising, implementing, and evaluating changes to improve services, systems, and standards.
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Drive company vehicles, subject to policies and procedures.
- Work on a rota basis according to the needs of young people.
- Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained.
- Receive supervision in line with National Minimum Standards and take responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needs.
- Carry out all other reasonable tasks directed by the Registered Manager.
