Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team at National Grid. As a key member of our Procure to Pay and O2C Delivery team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Accounts Payable processes and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage internal and external queries from business functions and suppliers, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Collaborate with offshore teams to resolve key items and drive process excellence initiatives.
  • Deliver process improvements and implement controls to meet our SoX requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external reviews to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Support the implementation of Ariba system and BAU process, onboarding suppliers as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Front Desk operations to resolve exceptions and monitor CSAT scores.
  • Ensure SOX and business controls are complied with and reported in line with internal policy and accounting standards.
  • Manage daily dashboard for aged invoices and month-end metrics.
  • Respond to business teams and suppliers, coordinating with offshore teams as needed.
  • Drive process improvement ideas through P2P sprints and support Service Now upgrade implementation.

Requirements

  • Qualified or near-qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, etc.).
  • Experience in planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Good understanding of core financial processes.
  • Financial modeling, advanced Excel, and Power BI skills, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Strong management accounting background.
  • Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Pragmatic and adaptable, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and collaboration skills.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
