Job Description

Ultra Electronics CEMS Ltd is seeking a skilled Test Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing, fault-finding, and repairing electronic assemblies to meet customer quality and timescale commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute testing procedures to determine product performance and functionality.
  • Carry out testing and fault-finding on customer returns and production units to board level using test equipment, specifications, and circuit diagrams.
  • Compile testing records and results, and where necessary, produce reports on findings and testing data.
  • Perform Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and Vibration tests on electronic products.
  • Program PCBs and devices using Programming Loading Documents.
  • Produce investigation reports and statements of work as required.
  • Adhere to business, quality, and health & safety procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements by demonstrating innovation and recommending process enhancements.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and circuit diagrams.
  • Problem-solving skills and knowledge of testing methods, procedures, and protocols.
  • Experience working with testing and measurement equipment and proficiency in using them.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Report writing and document analysis skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Excel and Word.
Education:
  • Further education in Electrical or Electronic engineering (e.g. ONC, HNC, HND).
  • Electronic based apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in an electronics testing role.
  • Good foundation in electronics circuit theory through apprenticeship, industry, or education.
  • Minimum requirements: 'A' level Mathematics and Physics.
Security Clearance:

Candidates must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance.

Nationality Requirements:

Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and be prepared to undertake UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government criteria.
