As an Electrical Power Electronics Design Expert, you will provide support across projects and teams to design, implement, and test motor control units to meet system and equipment requirements and a certifiable standard for aerospace applications.
Responsibilities- Liaise with project teams to define specifications and lead design reviews
- Develop, debug, and validate power electronics for use in inverter and converter products for aerospace applications
- Simulate and evaluate EMC, power, and thermal models
- Support power electronics verification activities through the product lifecycle
- Generate technical documentation, including designs, analysis, simulation, and reviews
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or relevant industrial experience
- Proven experience in relevant industry with knowledge of power electronic devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, wideband gap devices, Capacitors, Current sensors)
- Experience in designing robust gate drive circuits for wideband gap switching devices including component protection mechanisms
- Proficiency in power electronics design, including schematic layout, PCB layout, component selection, and modelling, simulation, and analysis of power devices for inverter systems
- Ability to perform design analysis, including worst-case, tolerance, thermal, and stress analysis
- Understanding of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
