Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our team at the Environment Agency. As a Permit Officer - Grade 4, you will be responsible for assessing applications for environmental permits and licenses, developing relationships with partners, and supporting key functions including flooding and environmental response.

This is a challenging and varied role that requires excellent communication skills, technical competence, and the ability to make informed decisions. You will be expected to work independently on complex permits and coach and mentor junior staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess applications for environmental permits and licenses
  2. Develop relationships with partners and stakeholders
  3. Support key functions including flooding and environmental response
  4. Coach and mentor junior staff members
  5. Make informed decisions and justify them as needed
Requirements
  • Experience in coaching and supporting others through technical challenges
  • Ability to manage your own time and workload and meet performance targets related to you and your team
  • Ability to make and justify informed, timely decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers
  • Great IT skills including experience of working with and analysing data, managing information, and using tools like Word, Excel, and specialist digital tools relevant to your job
