About the Role

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Colchester. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to make a positive impact by working 1:1 with a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support for a child with SEN to help them achieve their full potential within the classroom.
  • Assist with learning activities, adapting materials and teaching methods to meet the child's needs.
  • Foster a supportive, encouraging, and inclusive environment.
  • Help manage classroom behavior in line with the school's behavior policy.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt learning strategies.
  • Promote the child's emotional and social development, ensuring a positive school experience.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN (desired but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children, staff, and parents.
  • Willingness to collaborate and take guidance from teachers and SENCOs.
  • A commitment to supporting children's development and well-being.
