Learning Support Assistant (Primary)

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (Primary) to join a fantastic primary school in Colchester.

As a Learning Support Assistant (Primary), you will work closely with teachers and students to create a positive and engaging learning environment. Your role will involve assisting the class teacher in managing the classroom and supporting students, providing one-to-one support for students who need extra help, and working with small groups of children to boost their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom and supporting students.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students who need extra help.
  • Work with small groups of children to boost their learning.
  • Help to create a positive, safe, and engaging learning space.
  • Support children with their learning, helping them reach their individual goals.
  • Encourage students' social and emotional development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children in a classroom, ideally in a primary school.
  • A caring and patient nature.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage behaviour in a positive way.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to obtain one).
