Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the SHEQ team, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with legislation and adopting best practice standards.
The primary aim of this role is to assist the Compliance Manager in overseeing safe working processes within high-risk areas, grounds, building, and equipment maintenance. You will ensure health and safety standards are met while arranging for repairs, liaising with contractors, sourcing suppliers, and collaborating with department leads.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct Risk Assessments: Set safety standards based on legal requirements and conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Improve Health and Safety: Identify areas of improvement and incorporate in-house training, including toolbox tasks, to enhance employee knowledge and skills.
- New Starter Inductions and Audits: Conduct Health & Safety new starter inductions and internal audits to ensure compliance and adherence to company policies.
- Facilities Management: Serve as the main point of contact for all facilities queries and provide proactive building maintenance for all UK offices.
- Maintenance Scheduling: Schedule preventative maintenance tasks for all UK offices, including boiler, ventilation, and forklift trucks.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain the database for all company furniture and liaise with purchasing when new furniture or Health & Safety related items are required. Ensure equipment service reports, health & safety policies, and necessary documentation are available for external audits.
- Travel and Site Visits: Travel as required to each UK site using company pool car and conduct site visits to ensure compliance and adherence to company policies.
- First Aid and Fire Warden: Provide first aid and fire warden services, working alongside the Compliance Assistant to ensure all sites are compliant.
- Competitive Salary: Starting salary from £26,000 to £28,000 per annum.
