About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Group HSE Manager to join our team in the Greater Manchester area. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the health and safety management of our manufacturing facilities across 4 sites.

Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement. You will lead training sessions for new and existing staff members, develop training plans, and maintain accurate records of employee development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all health and safety-related issues across 4 manufacturing facilities, ensuring legal compliance through regular audits and inspections.
  • Lead training sessions for new and existing staff members, developing training plans and maintaining accurate records of employee development.
  • Effective internal communication is crucial in keeping site managers and production leaders informed about health and safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilize continuous improvement techniques to enhance the HSE performance and management system.
  • Control and manage departmental budget spend effectively.
  • Assist in creating, implementing, and reviewing Risk Assessments, safe working procedures, and method statements across all sites.
  • E nsure all Group activities are conducted safely and within the company's Health and Safety Procedures, including proper PPE and suitable equipment for the areas of work.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive health & safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Chair monthly health & safety meetings across the Group, recording meeting outcomes and managing actions accordingly.
  • Conduct timely investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • C ordinate and arrange preparation of site asbestos and fire risk assessment surveys, managing resulting actions in conjunction with General Managers.
  • Complete and document quarterly housekeeping / workplace inspections, managing internal actions with relevant personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
  • Maintain high standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, adhering to ISO9001, 14001, and 45001 requirements.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification is desired.
  • Prior experience in a similar single or multi-site Senior HSE Management role, demonstrating a track record of driving behavioral safety and a culture of zero harm.
  • Previous experience in fast-paced, process-based general / industrial manufacturing environments is essential.
  • Proven ability to drive change and improvements, with influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with DSEAR / ATEX requirements would be beneficial.
  • Experience in process-based manufacturing sectors such as Technical Textiles, Rubber / Polymer, Plastics manufacturing would be advantageous.
