Job Overview

We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Urban Planning Coordinator to join our team at South and Vale District Council. As a key member of our planning policy team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our districts.

About the Role

The successful applicant will have a keen interest in place-making and high-quality customer service. You will assist in progressing the Joint Local Plan through examination, working with a team of over 20 professionals. Your tasks will include assisting in topics or sections of the plan and evidence base, working with neighbouring authorities on cross-boundary matters, supporting public consultations, and other activities engaged with by the team.

The role offers a diverse and interesting range of tasks, as well as opportunities to develop professionally. You can expect to be involved in various projects, including helping to deliver the work of the policy team and contributing to innovative approaches and best practice policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in progressing the Joint Local Plan through examination
  • Work with a team of over 20 professionals to progress the plan
  • Support public consultations and other activities engaged with by the team
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in urban planning, planning policy, or a related field. A degree in a relevant subject is also desirable. Additionally, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

You may have experience in roles such as Planning Officer, Planning Policy Officer, Assistant Planning Officer, or Planning Administrator. If you have a strong passion for place-making and customer service, we encourage you to apply.
