About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mortgage Loan Specialist I to join our team at State Employees' Credit Union. As a key member of our lending team, you will be responsible for originating and processing mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and credit union policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and process mortgage loans, including reviewing loan applications, conducting credit analyses, and making lending decisions.
  • Collaborate with branch personnel, VPs, SVPs, attorneys, members, appraisers, and realtors to ensure smooth loan processing and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, real estate professionals, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and referrals.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements, credit union policies, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and excellence in lending.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in mortgage lending and credit union operations.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate in Arts degree or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' lending experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound lending decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment, with a focus on attention to detail and organizational skills.

Work Environment

The Mortgage Loan Specialist I will work in a dynamic office setting, with physical proximity to other employees and members. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone may be present. Local travel may be required.

Physical Demands

The role requires a substantial amount of sitting, with occasional standing and walking. The ability to comprehend and carry out job demands is essential. Use of hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard and telephone keypad is required.
