About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Support Professional to join our team. As a key member of our SEN department, you will work closely with students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN in both mainstream classes and specialist settings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans and support strategies, in collaboration with the SENCO, class teachers, and other support staff.
  • Support students in managing their behavior, using positive behavior management techniques and promoting emotional regulation.
  • Adapt learning materials and resources to meet the specific needs of individual students.
  • Monitor and record student progress, offering regular feedback to teachers, the SENCO, and parents/carers.
  • Encourage the development of students' social skills, independence, and confidence both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Support the delivery of intervention programs tailored to students' needs, such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Assist with any physical or personal care needs that students may require during the school day.
Requirements
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEN in an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of a range of SEN needs, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMH, and the strategies used to support these.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • The ability to work flexibly, as part of a team, and independently when required.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN-specific training, are desirable but not essential.
