About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant in Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation Medicine to join our team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with acute and rehabilitation stroke needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with acute and rehabilitation stroke needs, including inpatient care, rapid access TIA patient assessments, outpatient stroke clinics, and ambulatory stroke care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of stroke services, including the regional tele-stroke thrombolysis service.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, including the supervision of junior doctors and medical students.
  • Engage in audit and research activities to improve stroke care and services.

Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • MRCP.
  • Higher Training in General Internal Medicine and Stroke Medicine, Geriatrics, Neurology, or Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
