An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our established nursing team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking an experienced Band 5 or existing Band 6 team leader who is enthusiastic and passionate about providing high-quality care in Gastroenterology conditions.

The successful candidate will be flexible, with the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate a team. They will have the ability to work independently and within a team, with patient experience at the heart of their care delivery.

The applicant will work alongside Practice Nurse Educators to provide education and training to junior staff. When in charge, the expectation is to lead, support, and motivate the team to ensure high-quality care is delivered.

This includes guidance within incident reporting and investigations, safe staffing and rosters, and quality governance and assurance through audit.

The successful candidate will be involved in developing individual programmes that provide measurable outcomes of patient care. This will include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with Trust and local policies.

Under the supervision of the ward/department manager, the successful candidate will work on delegated projects relating to local policy and service development.

They will be actively involved in the implementation of Trust policies and procedures at ward/department level, reinforcing their use.

The successful candidate will also actively manage their own annual leave in line with Trust and local Policy and Procedure.

Education/qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Evidence of post-registration professional development

  • Mentorship & assessment in the clinical area

  • Recent experience of working with patients with infectious diseases and gastroenterological conditions
  • Experience in infection control and isolation protocols
