Jnr Technical Superintendent Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Navis Consulting, a well-established shipping company based on the Isle of Wight. We are seeking a junior engineer to join our shore-based technical team as a Jnr Technical Superintendent.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating the technical team, ensuring that our ships are supplied, stored, and maintained in accordance with our Quality System (SMS). Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the technical team to ensure seamless vessel operations
  • Source and purchase ship stores for Company vessels, focusing on good value and efficiency
  • Monitoring vessel activities, locations, and requirements through effective communication
  • Arranging timely delivery of parts to the correct location by liaising with the vessel, port agent, and supplier
  • Maintaining the parts Ordering System in accordance with the ISM, ensuring it is up-to-date
  • Communicating regularly with ships regarding spares and stores ordering, and keeping them updated on progress with parts requests
  • Conducting vessel surveys and safety audits
  • Developing relationships with chandlers, port agents, technicians, and local contacts, as well as with local, national, and international suppliers

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical/engineering background, sea-going experience (preferred), and hold an OOW Engine (III/1) COC. Excellent logistical skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are essential. A full UK driver's license and willingness to travel are also required. The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
