Job Title: Calibration and Metrology Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Calibration and Metrology Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Staffline Group in Greater Manchester.

Job Type: Ongoing contract with possibility of permanent position

Salary: £35k - £43k band for an experienced hire

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with negotiable hourly or day rate

Department: Engineering Laboratory - Calibration and Metrology Support

Location: Greater Manchester

Client: Global category leader in medical health and devices manufacturing

Job Role and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out routine maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment, working within the Metrology Division of the Engineering department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide metrology support for all equipment systems, troubleshooting and rectifying equipment breakdowns.
  2. Plan and schedule service and calibration engineering visits.
  3. Carry out routine maintenance and calibration tasks on schedule to ensure that laboratory equipment remains in service and valid for use.
  4. Coordinate maintenance and collaboration documentation compliance requirements.
  5. Initiate/upgrade preventive maintenance and calibration process specifications.
  6. Maintain SOP for instrumentation/metrology.
  7. Maintain an accurate inventory of instruments, consumables, and spare parts, working closely with Supply Chain to ensure inventory records and database are kept up to date.
  8. Act as liaison with outside contractors and vendors for equipment repairs or contract maintenance.

Requirements:

  1. A' Level, or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  2. Experience in calibration and/or maintenance support for a manufacturing company, or equivalent, with demonstrated skills in writing complex calibration SOPs and technical operating procedures.
  3. Understanding of technical metrology requirements, assisting calibration specifications, coordinating, and monitoring new equipment.
  4. Demonstrable experience working in a cGMP environment to ISO or FDA regulatory standards is desirable.
  5. Good planning skills to produce project timelines.
  6. Candidates with a Life Sciences Graduate, Engineering graduate, calibration engineer, systems metrologist, metrology technician, maintenance specialist, or Laboratory Technician background may be suitable for this position.
