Premises Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Premises Assistant to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our centers, including caretaking, cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
As a Premises Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and staff, providing a warm welcome and ensuring that our facilities are safe and clean. You will also be responsible for maintaining our inventory of equipment, updating records, and monitoring systems to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about learning and developing their skills on the job. You will have the chance to work independently and as part of a team, and will be supported in your professional development through training and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and carry out effective caretaking and cleaning of the center
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and update records
- Monitor systems and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Provide a warm welcome to visitors and staff
- Assist with maintenance and repairs as required
Requirements:
- Education: Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent through relevant work experience
- Skill Development: Enthusiastic about learning and developing your skills on the job
- Problem Solver: A hands-on approach to addressing challenges and finding practical solutions
- Experience: Previous experience in cleaning, caretaking, or maintenance tasks
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations, including manual handling procedures
- IT Skills: Comfortable using basic IT tools for email, Teams, and general admin tasks
- People Skills: Friendly and approachable, able to communicate effectively
