Animal Welfare Assistant

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Animal Welfare Apprentice at Leeds City College, where you will be responsible for the care and welfare of animals in our on-site animal care centre.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of animals, facilitate small groups of students in practical areas, and support the preparation of practical lessons.
Our team is committed to providing a supportive and inspiring learning environment, and we are looking for someone who shares our values and is passionate about animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of animal welfare at all times
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness in the animal care centre
- Order consumables and equipment for the curriculum area
- Prepare facilities and equipment for teaching
- Maintain and organise teaching spaces in relation to curriculum need
- Facilitate small groups of students in practical areas
- Maintain 20% off-the-job training
About You
- Have a minimum of a level 1 qualification in a related subject
- Have recent experience working with a range of animals
- Work well as part of a team and be resilient, adaptable and enthusiastic
- Have excellent communication skills and be happy working with people as well as being able to work independently when required
