Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our operations team at our Tarmac Hafod Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Abercarn, Newport, South Wales. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for leading and managing all site operations, ensuring maximum productivity and profitability.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Site Operations: Oversee all site activities, prioritizing safety and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain Site Maintenance Systems: Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Manage Stocks and Supplies: Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment of essential materials.
  • Develop Waste Reduction Plans: Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve environmental sustainability.
  • Manage Site Profit and Loss: Analyze financial data, forecasting monthly spend and maintaining accurate records.
  • Project Management: Coordinate projects within the quarry, meeting agreed timescales and budget requirements.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety legislation, maintaining up-to-date documentation and conducting regular inspections.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role, preferably within the quarrying sector.
  • Risk Assessment and Safe Working Procedures: Showcase ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop effective safe working procedures.
  • Team Management and Staff Development: Highlight expertise in managing teams, staff development, and project management.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Demonstrate effective budgeting and cost control skills.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Emphasize ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Possess SHE NVQ level 4 in Health and Safety, Minerals Extractive foundation degree, IOSH Managing Safely, Wamitab, or Lean Six Sigma Green belt.
