Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic histology laboratory team at BioTalent. This exciting opportunity will see you take on additional responsibilities, including training and supervising junior staff members, while contributing to the smooth running of our laboratory environment.

About You
  • A registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) with HCPC registration
  • A member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS)
  • A Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification
Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee specimen reception, processing, cutting, staining, and dispatching within agreed turnaround times
  2. Assist in daily workload management while ensuring quality and accuracy
  3. Serve as the Lead Senior BMS for training within the laboratory, guiding staff in best practices
  4. Manage IBMS portfolios and support professional development
  5. Supervise the work of Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs), Medical Technical Officers (MTOs), and Biomedical Scientists (BMS)
  6. Ensure the operation and maintenance of histology equipment according to department policies
  7. Maintain strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations and laboratory protocols
  8. Participate in specimen dissection and assist in various laboratory tasks
