Senior Robotics Research Scientist in Flexible Sensor Technology

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics Research Scientist to contribute to the SELECT project within the Institute for Imaging, Data and Communications at the University of Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will be working on developing flexible sensor technologies for soft robotics applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop novel flexible sensors for soft robotic platforms
  • Conduct experiments and collect data to evaluate the performance of the developed sensors
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate the sensors into robotic systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation of research methods and results

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Electronics, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong background in robotics, especially in soft robotics
  • Experience in flexible sensor fabrication and control of soft robotic platforms
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time position available on a fixed-term basis for up to 24 months. The planned start date for this role is 1st March 2025.

Salary:

The salary for this position is approximately £43,000 per annum, falling within the UE07 grade.
